Puff pastry was the one ingredient they had to include in their recipe. Working in pairs, Coonabarabran Waratah Guides looked at a display of ingredients and decided what they would make... no recipes, no prior preparation, no prior knowledge of ingredients just on the spot negotiations and decision making with what ingredients were on offer. The Guides took on the challenge with excitement.
There were varied creations including an impressive 3 course meal featuring tasty ham, cheese and tomato parcels by Daisy and Gabi; Delicious Apple turnovers and icecream by Hanna & Jemma; A spectacularly presented Christmas in July – pancakes, jam with snowflake pastry tops and snowmen by Mackensie and Grace; yummy Fruity pies with citrus sauce by Molly and Jasmine and a caramel drizzled pastry ball stack that looked like it came out of a gourmet magazine created by Olivia & Ellen.
Bilby and Blue Wren were the taste testers and were very impressed with the end results.– especially the excellent team work, the imagination, creativity, presentation and enthusiasm in clearing up afterwards. (You should have heard the singing whilst they all stuck into the cleaning up and dishwashing together) Every team had a winning result.
This video shows Coonabarabran Waratah Guides in a line washing, drying and putting away dishes as a team. They had no idea I was taking the video... but I couldn't resist capturing the fun and team work as they worked and sang their favourite campfire songs with gusto. It was a great finish to their Unit meeting focused on Master Chef!
WARNING - This video contains loud enthusiastic singing - Make sure your volume is set to low! Or you might be BLASTED!
